Here is what they call as the recipe of their success - Pallerla Sai Sandeep Reddy (JEE Advanced AIR 1) P. Sandeep Reddy, a student from Andhra Pradesh bagged the AIR 1 on Friday, June 1, 2013. Sandeep says he was not surprised of the result though it had been very pleasant news. He didn’t feel intimidated by exams and while at the examination centre, he felt fully confident and sure about his preparations. Sandeep spent 12-14 hours preparing for his JEE Advanced and according to him JEE Mains were not really his concern area. Along with JEE, Sandeep also topped EAMCET examination. He appeared for EAMCET to keep it just as an option and his preparations for EAMCET began only 1 week prior to the examinations. H

IIT students to build robotic soldiers

In Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee (IIT-Roorkee), a group of PhD students are working on a four-legged robot that would be able to carry weapons to soldiers on the battlefront. "We are working on the operational prototype of a four-legged robot that consists of a chassis and can be used at the forefront of war areas, for instance to carry weapons," P.M. Pathak, associate professor in the mechanical engineering department, told IANS. "Even if one limb is hit by a bullet, the robot can continue to function on the remaining three limbs, and even of two," explained Divye Anand, a third year student in the robotics department. Some students are working on a robotic arm that resembles a human arm with flexible finger-like extensions that can be used to pick up, hold or even push objects. The robotic arm can withstand high heat and can be used by people who work in hazardous spaces like blast furnaces. At the annual IIT-Roorkee TechFest - Cognizance - hundr

State boards students are not doing very well in jee main mock tests

For the first time Maharashtra education board is going to merge in jee main for admission to B.Tech courses in all engineering colleges that come under Maharashtra state. Earler B.Tech admission were based on MHTCET score (state level entrance examination). Maharashtra government will give 50% weightage to jee main 2014 score and 50% to xii board normalised percentile. According to sources majority of students who studied in the state board have been scoring less marks in the mock tests preparing for the joint entrance examination (JEE) for admission in undergraduate programmes in engineering colleges across the state. They are worried a lot, as they fear they will not do well in the JEE as the standard of questions being asked is very high and their state board syllabus is not at par. JEE Main 2014 is going to start from 6th April 2014. Students feedback “Before joining the All India Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), the directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra State

How many People saw CBSE Class XII Physics Leaked Paper ??

Image
The Central Board of Secondary Education has told Delhi High Court that over 1,600 people had surfed the websites where the leaked Class XII physics question paper was uploaded. The question paper was leaked in Manipur on March 5, prompting the board to reschedule the exam in the state to April 2. A bench headed by acting Chief Justice B.D. Ahmed, which is hearing a PIL seeking a re-examination across the country, asked the board to further probe the incident. The CBSE said certain websites that uploaded the leaked question paper got over 1,600 hits, of which 500 were from Delhi and only 16 from Manipur. The bench has asked the CBSE to report to it by April 16 whether these netizens should take a re-examination. The PIL said the CBSE had “admitted” that the question paper was leaked and circulated on the Internet and sold for a “very minor consideration” of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.

Four IIT-Delhi final-year students, who were on a road trip to west Rajasthan to celebrate their placements, were killed and two other students injured when the Innova they were travelling in overturned near Jaisalmer on Sunday morning. The students were returning after camping out at Sam and were 5km from Jaisalmer when one of the tyres burst, resulting in the vehicle rolling over several times. More Powerful Solar energy plant to power IIT-Kanpur

After setting up a 50 kilowatt solar power plant on the institute campus, IIT-Kanpur is now in the process of commissioning a 1,750 kilowatt roof-top solar power plant. This work would be done in two phases. In the initial phase, a solar plant of 350 kw capacity will be set up. This will take nearly six months. The second phase will be taken up later. The power generated by the solar power plant will be supplied to the IIT-K grid and the same will be supplied back to the institute for meeting the power needs of the institute. This would also reduce the dependence on the power supplying agency in the city -- Kesco. At present, the 50 KW solar power plant which had been inaugurated July 3, 2013, is generating 250 units of power which is supplied to the grid. The same power is supplied to a student hostel in the institute to illuminate it. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his visit to the institute on July 3, 2010 had viewed the model of the 50 KW solar power plant which came up on the

New JEE Main System: A Curse for NIT Aspirants

The debate over recent change in JEE Mains has gone to a different level with thousands of students coming out of their shell to show their disappointment for this sudden change. It has taken all students by surprise as they are left with no choice but go for it no matter may come. As believed by many, this controversial change in JEE-mains is likely to decrease the quality of engineers. For example there was this case of a guy who scored 323 out of 360 in JEE-Main and secured 93.6% in CBSE 2013. He ranked 617 in JEE-Mains. On the other hand, his friend scored 271 out of 360 with 96.2% in CBSE. He was ranked < 600. Here the difference of just 13 marks in boards overshadowed the difference of 52 marks in JEE-Main. Well, this is obviously unjustified. Students rather believe that the scenario would have been completely different had it been about 40% in boards and 60% in JEE-Main. Students also believe that the education ministry should have

Why will Engineering Aspirants Join Terror Outfit Indian Mujahedeen ?

In fact, one of the arrested Indian-Mujahedeen operatives, Mohd. Waqar wanted to take admission in one of the reputed  IITs . Reportedly, he was also taking coaching classes in Kota for the same. According to reports, Mohd. Waqar had an impressive academic track record in school. He had 80% in 10 th  and 75% in 12 th . However, he failed to clear entrance test for top engineering colleges. He was studying in the Global Engineering College, Jaipur. Mohd. Waqar was convinced to join the militant outfit during one of his visits to a mosque in Pratapnagar. He was introduced to Indian Mujahedeen co-founders, Riaz and

Schoolboy sets a record by inventing an all new computer system!

So, we have a yet another invention by Afreed Islam, a school boy who will be taking his Class X CBSE examinations commencing from March 3. Afreed, who is a student of Little Flower School, Hatigaon introduced his archetype of a computer system that replaces the hard disc by a microchip and offers the option of utilizing and depending on both Windows and Linux-based operating systems at the same time. The computer invention named Revo Book substitutes both mechanical and electronic hard disk drives by a microchip that not only doubles the storage capacity but also overcomes the risk of losing any kind of data. And that’s not all. He has also developed an operating system called ReVo 1X which has also been mounted on the microchip. This system offers numerous benefits including faster execution speed, inbuilt firewall and an entirely exclusive independent operating system. Most discussions on IIT’s best institutions end up on a war-like situation with no concrete conclusion. And irrespective of this fact, we’ve decided to take things on our own hands on the issue one more time, albeit with all safety precautions in place. Of Pride and Prejudices—IIT-Delhi V/S IIT-Bombay The two engineering institutions that will battle for supremacy in our discussion today are IIT-Delhi and IIT-Bombay. We will review their basic key features and find out the better of the two without any discrimination or favoritism. So, let’s go through it one by one: Highest Pay Package IIT-Bombay was offered the highest package of Rs 80,000 lakh p.a. by Samsung US/Korea for the academic year 2013-2014, which is about 1, 50,000 p.a. in US Dollars. Although placement coordinators of the institution refused to divulge details on pay packages, one of our sources revealed that the pay package offered by Samsung US/Korea is more than 30% hike as speculated by the authority of
